BOM against model

The BOM and the model count different things, and nobody can say which is right.

Counts are read straight from the model and every item is linked to its spec and its order. The BOM is compared line by line, and each difference is listed by hall with the elements behind it.

Every answer cites its source. People decide.

How it works

Ask. Inspect. Verify. Publish.

1

Ask

A plain-language question.

"Does the BOM match what the model says we are building?"
2

Inspect

The full blast radius, on the model.

Each BOM line beside the counted elements on the model, by hall.
3

Verify

Checked against the governing drawings and specs.

Counts come from the model. The product on each line is checked against the approved product and the spec.
4

Publish

A dashboard, report or register, citations attached.

A reconciliation register: matched lines, differences by hall, sources attached.
Worked example

One job, start to finish.

Values come from a structured reference campus, not from a client project.

Reference campus
  1. 01

Reference campus model: 240 racks per hall, 6 halls, 1,440 racks.

  2. 02

One approved product for the whole order.

  3. 03

A BOM line that says anything else is listed, by hall, with the racks behind the count.

  4. 04

A person reviews the differences and corrects the BOM or the model.

Model counts from the reference campus. The BOM column is illustrative. Differences are listed, never averaged; people decide which side is right.
